Product Description The Sears Parenting Library's latest addition is an exploration of how nutrition affects the brains and behavior of youngsters. N.D.D., or Nutrition Deficit Disorder, as coined by Dr. Bill Sears, is based on the idea that if "you put junk food into a child's brain, you get back junk behavior and learning."
Dr. Sears will explore the latest scientific research on the effects of nutrition on the brain. He will present case studies of his own patients who were diagnosed as "N.D.D." and showed major improvement in learning and behavior with diet change. Instead of simply medicating his patients, Dr. Sears looked for a better solution--in fact, with better nutrition, many of his patients were able to greatly reduce or even stop their medication. The book will also provide parents with a prescription, shopping and meal tips, and recipes to make implementing a healthier lifestyle that much easier.
THE N.D.D. BOOK will be a must-have for all parents who want to help their children become healthier, happier, and better prepared to learn.

Good info, bad kindle edition August 11, 2010 foxymama I love Dr. Sears, I like the information presented in this book but the kindle edition is terrible. The charts are cut off mid page, they need to work on format before selling as a kindle book.
Great information for parents and nutrition professionals October 25, 2009 K. Tier (San Francisco Bay Area) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am a certified nutrition educator (holistic nutrition) and own Dr Sears' "The Healthiest Kid in the Neighborhood", which I love. I picked up "The NDD Book" at the library to see if it had enough additional information to be worth it. Well, it was terrific and I purchased my copy right away from Amazon. I really felt like this book took the information to the next level. Dr Sears explains holistic nutrition in a way most parents can more easily understand. Certain sections are especially helpful and interesting like: "six tips for eating healthy when not at home", "twenty ways to introduce new foods to picky eaters", and "how food additives affect children's learning, mood, and behavior".
I have also made several of the 24 recipes included in the "meal plans and recipes" section. My family of six loved "the tastiest, healthiest, most awesome oatmeal" that cooks overnight in the crock pot. I especially liked the "corn and black bean salsa". Adding the hummus really made a difference.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.

This book is very informative & a wonderful source for all age groups. The NDD Book & Feingold Association have the some mind set, but The NDD Book gives you scientific background. I love it!!!
Another great book from the Sears family May 14, 2009 Kapo84 (Idaho Falls, ID) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
My wife and I are already over half way done with this book. Similar to other books written by the Sears (especially the Vaccine Book) this book is easy to read yet very informative. The book includes great recipe suggestions for all meals. We especially enjoy the "brainy breakfasts" recipes. Our little boy (14 months) has had problems with constipation ever since he began the slow transition to solids. After reading some of the recipes we tried Dr. Sears "Stool-aid/School-aid" smoothie (pg. 182) and our boy's bowels immediately improved and we haven't had had problems since we've been drinking it.
The book's information regarding the dangers of food additives and substitutes currently out on the market helps parents make wise and informed decisions about what food to offer their children. It also explains how children's nutrition directly affects the way they act.
This is a book we will be sad to see end. The information is great for everyone young and old. We could all learn a little more about how to eat well and especially how to teach the up and coming generations the same.
