Product Description Like other introductory books, it covers reading and briefing cases, preparing for class, outlining and study groups and taking exams. There are exercises so you can apply what you have learned. In addition to these essentials, the book focuses of what is often elusive: legal analysis; Why do courts follow precedent?; How are cases applied and distinguished?; How is ambiguous language interpreted? There are chapters on legal writing and on oral argument. These chapters will help in first year writing and Moot Court Programs. Additionally, there are chapters revealing the wide array of careers that will be open to students.

good review August 31, 2007 Owens The University of Florida recommends reading this book before starting law school there. I read it and found if was a very good cohmprehensive review of what to expect. It makes the first few weeks of school seem a little less intense if you have an idea of what you're getting into. br /Hope this helps and Go Gators!
Excellent book to help prep your mind. August 28, 2007 M. O'Neill (Santa Cruz, CA United States) Nothing will completely prepare you for the brain battery that is law school, but this book will help prepare you to the basic concepts and get you in the right frame of mind before you start Orientation. Get it. Read it. Then work hard at your classes and you'll do great.
Easy to read, but lacks content May 15, 2007 plex (Detroit, MI) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book covers a variety of subjects, introduces law school, gives a very basic introduction to note taking/exams, gives a few pointers on writing and generally eases someones worries if they are concerned about law school. br / br /However, that is all it does. It does not contain anything you will actually need to know for law school. It will just make you feel less uneasy about it. br / br /If you can rent it at your library for free, it is worth a browse, but it isn't worth actually buying if you want to actually learn something before or during law school.
This is THE book to read if you are Law School bound August 11, 2006 Dave N (VA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book is humorous, insightful, and worthwhile.
Buy It, Borrow It, Just Get It. May 19, 2006 Elizabeth (MS) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
The single best book that I have found which really does explain the study and practice of law, hence the title.
