Product Description This 1828 facsimile reprint of the first American Dictionary documents the quality of Biblical education which raised up American statesmen capable of forming our Constitutional Republic. Webster traced roots in twenty-six languages, and gives examples from classical literature and the Bible. Comprehensive introductions are presented for language and grammar. It has been described by one Christian scholar as "the greatest reprint of the twentieth century." The added biography by Rosalie Slater, "Noah Webster, Founding Father of American Scholarship and Education," describes his contribution to many fields and records his conversion to Christ.

Very useful December 15, 2008 Sgt. Bilko (Ca. USA) For those who read alot of 19th Century authors, this is a valuable aid in understanding words that do not have the same meaning in the 21st Century. It makes a great gift for the people that love to read the treausres of a time not equaled now, and to open up those treasures and get the whole meaning out of them. Some of the words that you will find will show you that they were not commonly in use than, and certainly not now!!
Bought for a pastor :-) December 3, 2008 Miss Kitten (CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

The 1828 Webster November 19, 2008 Steven Morrison (Choctaw, OK USA) I really enjoy using this dictionary. It has the true definitions of the words with Godly examples taken straight out of the bible. Plus, it is not just a dictionary, but also in the front of the book, there are grammer lessons that show the mechanics of the English language. I think this dictionary would be a wise addition to any household.
Excellent source of word meanings October 3, 2008 T. Gaston (Texas, USA) This is an excellent source for searching out the meaning of words. I especially like to use it when reading the King James version of the Bible since some word meanings have evolved. If you like to dig deeper into the meaning of words, then this is an invaluable tool to do just that.
Wonderful Resource July 14, 2008 Truth Seeker (Chicago, IL USA) My 1828 edition of Webster's is a wonderful addition to my resource library. It provides a valuable perspective br /from which to compare today's culture with that of earlier times in America.
