a charming read thus far October 27, 2008 Eddie S. Black (Portland, Oregon) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this book and shouldn't have. I say this because I have homework to do and instead I find myself laughing outloud to a wonderful poem about two little frogs. The book is organized around monthly themes. However, unlike some books that give (needed) information on tradtions and practices that align with the Sabbats and Esbats, this book does that but then takes a step off to the side. So for February, the month of Imbolc when one is begroaning the cold and wet (here in the Pacific Northwest) and wishing for the return of warmth and sunshine and we usually light candles or such... the author talks about lighting the candle of love within. Her story is wonderful, personal and applicable. Who among us hasn't felt love's pull or the longing for such? Hoping and wishing for the warmth of love to come into your life is a lot like hoping and wishing for Summer's warmth. br / br /This isn't a how-to book but it is readable by young and old alike. I found it to be a pure joy to read. I'm sure I woke my downstairs neighbors with a few laughs late that night.
A Year of Magick and Wisdom in One Book October 23, 2008 Autumn SylverRain (GA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Want to know about the life of a [or this] witch? Brew up your favorite blend of tea or coffee and sit for a while with this book. Wonderful stories of wisdom, friends and family to be told. Guarranted to make your heart smile. The Hall of Grandmothers and The Grandmother Tree are just two from my favorites list. Also included throughout the book are beautiful rituals for different stages of a perons life (from becoming an adult, marriage, passing over and much more!). You will cry, you will laugh and you will probably read this book over and over again. Get yourself a copy, then get all your girlfriends' a copy too! br /
Fabulous Pagan writing June 25, 2008 P. Watkins (Big Sandy, TX) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Possibly one of the best Pagan books I've read in a really long time. This is a beautiful piece of work, written as one of us, not talking down from some lofty position. The rituals have a lovely freshness to them, with lots of encouragement for creativity and exploration. This book has lots of very practical real world witchery with a touch of the old world. br / br /The personal history really helps it feel like you know Bronwynn personally and feel comfortable sitting down to talk over all your own issues over a nice cup of tea. I'll be reading my copy over and over and purchasing at least one copy for my local pagan group's library shortly.
Reccommend. Great experiances shared. May 27, 2008 Capricorn (FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
br /I enjoyed this book very much. Part autobiography with stories from the authors own life experiences, part practical and instructional with ideas for rituals, spells, and celebrations. br / br /I have to say I enjoy the author's personal stories most of all. When you've spent time on the path, it's easy to connect to these and that these type of stories are very appealing as opposed to straight forward how-to for those of us who've been around the block. br /
Bronwynn Forrest Torgerson is a real life witch May 26, 2008 MEA (Bellingham, wa United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have read this book when it was in the early stages. It is the most heartfelt account of a true to life witch you will ever read. These stories and rituals are from her life and she lives the life of the truly connected. Bronwynn is a story teller, and her tales will make you laugh and cry, mostly laugh. I am richer of spirit for having known her and read her work. Blessed are all who hear the tale of the Bardess Bronwynn. br / br /Blessed Be br /Mev
