Filled with action and suspense. Jesse Ferren will be around for many years to come. Can't imagine what she'll get into next. You feel like you're right there with Jesse as she takes every turn to find the truth and make things right. A must read.

Ronae McGuire hits it big with her first novel. Jesse Ferren proves to be a force with which to be reckoned - even though she's only 5'3". br / br /A boat explodes in the passage called "Porte des Morts" - or Death's Door. It's a narrow channel between the tip of Wisconsin's penninsula and Washington Island. The wealthy Carly McCray calls upon Jesse to investigate the death of her lover, Susan Stevens. br / br /Jesse, while reluctant to take the case, dives in head-first once she's made up her mind to investigate on Carly's behalf. br / br /The tension between Jesse and Carly is quite real. Jesse's past has made it impossible for her to even think of getting involved with Carly. Carly's own past also adds to Jesse's trepidation. Yet the attraction between these women is real. And undeniably strong. br / br /But, don't be mistaken. This is a great mystery; well-researched, beautifully written. The heartbreaking twists and turns this investigation takes leads the reader to the ultimate, surprise climax. Enough said. br / br /This book is non-stop reading enjoyment. A must read for all mystery enthusiasts.
