Product Description The traditional designs known as mandalas were recognized by C. G. Jung as symbolic representations of the Self. This book is a practical guide to mandala drawing for personal growth, stress reduction, and creative expression. Fincher introduces the history and ritual use of mandalas in cultures all over the world; offers guidance in choosing art materials, techniques, and colors for the creation of personal mandalas; and discusses the symbolism of shapes, colors, numbers, and motifs, such as birds and flowers, that may appear in mandalas. She also presents several illustrated case histories of people who successfully use her techniques.

Creating Mandalas July 26, 2008 Wmen Writing For Change-vt Great accompaniment to the sacred feminine coloring book of mandalas. As I learn more, I will surely use this more: AND likely order more of her other books. A fine tool for creative writing and personal reflection.
Simple tips for using simple drawing techniques to work on personal issues. October 10, 2007 S. Harley 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book contains simple tips for using simple drawing techniques to work on personal issues. br / br /I wish I had read more about this book before I bought it. I was looking for something like an illustrated how-to guide to the art of drawing complex Tibetan-like mandalas, that woud explain and elucidate the geometry and the symbology used in traditional renderings, so that I could create such wonderful masterpieces. Not at all what this is.
An indepth coverage of a very personal process September 26, 2007 D. H. Coward (Atlanta, Georgia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book offers a very in depth study of mandalas. I was skeptical since mandalas are such a personal process that this book would be as comprehensive as it is. br /Excellent job and if you get the other two spiral bound mandala books that go along with this - you can get over the intimidation of an empty circle quite quickly. I now have SO MANY ideas for painting mandalas of my own that I only use the mandala "coloring book" (templates) for relaxation exercises in the evening. br /These books have truly been a godsend! Relaxation is the key and these mandala exercises are a great way to get there. br /Enjoy!
An Excellent way to find out more about yourself September 24, 2007 Bohemian (North Carolina) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is an amazing way to find out more about yourself and where you are at any particular moment. I teach in a school for massage therapy and this is one of the things I do with my students. We spend a few hours discussing Mandalas and what their significance is and then they create one. It always gives them such great information and it's a great way to chart progress as well. Some of them do mandalas on their own throughout their time in school and we can watch them morph and change. This book gives detailed information, instructions and assements of what your mandala means. I highly recommend it.
Want to know about mandalas? May 7, 2007 dandeliongrrrl (Minnesota, MN) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A lot of great information! If you want to know about mandalas, get this book. No art. No actual mandalas. Still, the best info I've found.
