Product Description
No war can last forever. Now, in the long and punishing battle between the defiant champions of the New Jedi Order and the juggernaut that is the Galactic Alliance, the endgame is finally at hand. With so much lost#8211;and nothing less than the course of the future still at stake#8211;there can be no turning back. No matter the consequences.brbrThe rebel cause is losing ground under the twin blows of Admiral Gilad Pellaeon#8217;s assassination and the death of Mara Jade Skywalker. At the same time, having gained the support of the Imperial Remnant and its ruthlessly efficient forces, the Galactic Alliance, with the extraordinary power and dark brilliance of newly ascendant Sith Lord Darth Caedus at its helm, may be unstoppable. Tormented and torn between the call of duty and the thirst for vengeance, Luke has searched the Force and beheld an unspeakable vision of the galaxy enslaved under tyranny more monstrous than even Palpatine#8217;s. Now it seems that the last, best hope lies in mobilizing the scattered Jedi for one decisive search-and-destroy mission. The objective: eliminate Darth Caedus. brbrIt#8217;s a plan that will be as difficult and dangerous to execute as it is daring. For Caedus is a scion of both the Skywalker and Solo bloodlines whose command of the Force surpasses even that of his grandfatherbrbrDarth Vader. There is only one who is bound by destiny to stand against him in what will surely be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo.brbrFailure is not an option. The furious final moments between power and peace are here, and whoever confronts Darth Caedus will decide the outcome#8211;and the fate of those left standing.

5 out of 5 stars A pleasing end   November 13, 2008
Brenda S. Phillips (Ramona, CA, USA)
Ok so they basically re-surrected Fett and his cronies and drug us through all that 'baggage', then when Jaina, trained by Fett no less finally confronts big, bad Jason...we get absolutely no reference to the style of hit/fight/stance really and no, none, zippo, confrontation of sorts. A simple, this is why I have to kill you ________ fill in the blank would have been appreciated. I guess Jason knew it was coming but come on. I mean, even in Episode III, the book and movie, when Obi Wan makes his whole, "You were supposed to be the chosen one..." speech, you get feelings, emotions, and a confrontation. Jaina just kills Jason with no 'making of show' at all. Yes, there is some 'theater' to it when Jason is mentally screaming out to Tenel Ka, but it was all kind of a let down. When Luke faught Jason before, we got fight/style reference or even when he confronted Lumiya, you got the sense of a real confrontation, emotions and all. Luke even had a special lightsaber just to combat Lumiya's lightwhip, but with Jaina and Jason it just seems so simply written. br / br /But all in all, a very pleasing end to another lovely series. Very enjoyable and tied up a lot of the strings.

1 out of 5 stars Fitting end to a bad series   November 11, 2008
Felix G. Schmieder (Philadelphia)
I think many of the books in the EU were great. I also think many were terrible at best. This entire series had some great potential, painting the sith in the light of order bearers and the message somehow got lost. Instead, they just turn Jacen into another mindless bad guy drone. Bad decisions, check. Fits of rage, check. No one in the GA takes a step back and says "Hey, this guy named himself Darth Caedus. Didn't we have problems with a Darth something or other not to long ago?" Utterly ridiculous. The death of Mara. What was the point of that? "To show that people can die in the SW universe." Already did that with Chewbacca. "So Jacen could step fully into his role as a sith." Jacen defends himself from an attacker and steps into his role as fully sith with extra powers to boot. Seriously? It's insulting, to say the least. I come finally to the last book. Is there a word that encompasses this better than "rushed?" I mean, two lightsaber fights and bang, end of book, Jacens dead, yadda yadda. "The series will be wrapped up in 'Millenium Falcon!'" So the book labeled as "The Conclusion" isn't the actual conclusion? Instead, it's concluded in a book set years after the events in this series? Again, seriously? This was one of the worst series and it's made so much worse because it started so well and then the writers just went and insulted every fan by spitting out this tripe.

5 out of 5 stars Standard of excellence has been upheld   November 1, 2008
B. Reed
For those that seek development and not stagnation, this has been an incredible series. Many scoffed at the Vong invasion in NJO, and especially with the death of a beloved character, yet it did something bold for the Legacy series. It allowed the Legacy series to break further molds within the GA government structure, the type of leadership both on and offworld, and it put characters in emotional quandaries they'd never faced before. Many mild and bold plot twists regarding interpersonal relationships, plus many shifts in power structure. Government and people at their true nature, from secrets to backstabbing to unlikely alliances, to family feuds both internal and external. br / br /As much as I read and appreciate the older stuff, it doesn't have the same punch, knowing how events with play out. Maybe not the methods, but when you know all the old republic leads to what we know in episodes I - VI, it doesn't have the same effect of the completely unknown. br / br /Overall - good read, good finish, good setup for future stories. A+

5 out of 5 stars star wars Invincible   October 30, 2008

This book is great! It is well written, and kept my attention enough to read it in under a week. The seller was very fair and sent me a nice book for a awsome price!

3 out of 5 stars The Force Is Really Missing From This Final Book In The Series   October 21, 2008
Shawn Kovacich (The Greatest Little City in the World)
Well I guess I better start out by clearly stating that this review is based upon the entire "Legacy of the Force" series and not solely on this particular book. With that in mind, this same review will be posted on each book in the series under the same guidelines, as a review on the entire series, not just a single book in the series. With that in mind, here goes... br / br /My first comment is that the overall feel for this series seems to be a bit off. Now I don't know if it is me, or if other readers got the same impression. I have the tendency to believe that it was due in part to having more than one author writing the series, rather than having just a single author write all nine (9) books in the series. There are definitely some books in the series that are much better written than others, not that any of these authors are bad by any means, it just feels like something got lost somewhere in the shuffle. Like I said, maybe it's just me. br / br /The plot of the series is pretty good, with Jacen Solo turning over to the dark side and following in his grandfather's footsteps, while at the same time cementing his hold on the galaxy itself and attempting to get Luke and Mara's son Ben to become his apprentice. This of course put everyone on a collision course that makes it even more interesting because of the family ties involved. br / br /However, did any other readers feel like Jacen was merely a punk trying to be Sith Lord? Or once again is it just me. I felt that the other Sith in the story, were much better portrayed as true Sith and that Jacen was merely being used as a puppet to an even greater Sith who has of yet been unrevealed. Which would make the story much better with that back-story alone instead of the predominant one. br / br /I did really enjoy Jaina's relationship with Boba Fett and the Mandalorians and that alone brought the whole series an extra star and a half in my book. br / br /I was saddened to see the demise of one of my favorite characters as I felt that this character had so much more to offer than the pipsqueak wannabee Sith, Jacen Solo. br / br /I would recommend this series as it is "Star Wars," and therefore, a definite must read for those of us who are one with the force. However, please be forewarned that the various books in the series seem to have a rollercoaster of up and down moments and the whole series as a whole could have been much better if written by only one author rather than several. br / br /Here are the links for each individual book in the series starting with the first one. br / br /Betrayal (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 1) br / br /Bloodlines (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 2) br / br /Tempest (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 3) br / br /Exile (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 4) br / br /Sacrifice (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 5) br / br /Inferno (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 6) br / br /Fury (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 7) br / br /Revelation (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 8) br / br /Invincible (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force) br / br /Shawn Kovacich br /Star Wars Fan and Author of the Achieving Kicking Excellence series.
