Product Description bThe heroine of Kristin Gore s bestselling inside-the-beltway romp iSammy s Hill/i returns, and this time the laughs are richer and the stakes are higher -- at home and in the house (the White House, that is)/b PSamantha Joyce is many things: Health care policy wonk. Hypochondriac. Lover of Japanese Fighting Fish (and of Charlie Lawton, her iWashington Post/i reporter boyfriend). Jumper-to-conclusions. And when all these identities collide -- as they do most days -- the results are always unpredictable. PSammy s role as an advisor to Vice President Robert Gary (RG for short) has led her down some exciting professional paths, like when she accompanies RG on a trip to India to help open pharmaceutical supply lines, and some troubling ones -- like when the president secretly asks her to plumb those lines to acquire as yet unapproved drugs for his own personal use. Her job interferes with her love life, too, after Charlie is transferred to New York for a huge story just when she s expecting a proposal, and they find that distance combines poorly with Sammy s dedication to her work and her overactive imagination. And then there s the surprising -- though ego-pleasing -- series of passes thrown Sammy s way, culminating in a highly embarrassing photo of a Hollywood hotshot s hand where it doesn t belong, published in the pages of iUs Weekly/i . . . PAs the dual crises in Sammy s personal and professional lives come to a head, and her ideals are put to the ultimate test, readers will be flipping pages madly, wondering what might come next. Because in Sammy s house, anything is possible.

A disappointment compared to Sammy's Hill October 6, 2008 Bathtub reader (Austin, TX) While this book is not a bad read, it will be a disappointment to those who love Sammy and wanted to hear more about her hilarious exploits. The prequel gets its charm from character development and entertaining plot developments. This book does not make you fall in love with the characters and the plot is predictable and not captivating.
No characters worth spending time with. September 15, 2008 mimi (North Haven, CT United States) Since I did finish this book, I could not give it one star. But really, there is no one in this book that is worth your time. The lead character is a real pain in the neck. She complains and nags and it is difficult to see how she can be good at her job when she spends all her time worrying about what everyone thinks of her. You really want to tell her boyfriend to go find someone better to spend his time with. She just goes on and on when she could cover the subject in one paragraph. Very tiresome.
LOVED it! August 4, 2008 Cheryl Miller Thurston (Fort Collins, CO United States) I loved "Sammy's House" just as much as Kristin Gore's first book, "Sammy's Hill." The quirky main character is delightfully lovable, and the book is often laugh-out-loud funny. A great read!
Sammy's Sequel Steadily Surprises and Delight July 23, 2008 N. Bilmes (Vernon, CT United States) If you loved Sammy's Hill don't hesitate for a second in buying this book. Our heroine returns to navigate us through a new set of political-situations and scandals, this time from the White House. Sammy doesn't spend as much time detailing her neuroses in this book because there is so much going on in her world that she doesn't have time to slow down and ruminate on possible fatal diseases she could contract. br / br /I highly recommend Sammy's House, and will be sure to talk this one up with my friends.
Completely Delightful January 5, 2008 W. Kaplan (Wynnewood, PA United States) This book is SUCH a treat. Wonderful 20-something Samantha "Sammy" Joyce, aide to the Vice President of the United States, was introduced to us in "Sammy's Hill," when her boss was a then-lesislator. The first book was wonderful, but Gore's writing style has smoothed and matured into an easy, unselfconscious style that is easy to read and packs a lot of punch. br / br /In this second in what I hope is a long series, Sammy is working in the West Wing, and the inside informatin of how hard these people work and exactly what they do is fascinating (Gore is the middle daughter of Al Gore and obviously knows of what she speaks). For those who may avoid this book because of negative feelings about Al Gore, please don't. The Administration pictured herein, while probably Democratic, is fairly drawn, and FAR from perfect, as the plot reveals. br / br /As Sammy works hard as pharmaceutical drug/health care informational specialist for her boss, intrigue and upset are swirling in the White House. Is President Wye drinking again? Is he taking a drug banned in the United States? If so, will this affect Sammy's increasingly serious relationship with her boyfriend, a reporter for The Washington Post? br / br /Beneath the lighthearted, often comedic and truly enjoyable plot is a deeper message about responsbility in government, no matter what affiliation, and the pitfalls that can occur with great power. br / br /Highly recommended.
