The first time I flipped through Glam Knits I was so excited I couldn't even focus. It is a beautiful collection of garments. Studying some of the patterns I found they are constructed in a smart yet simple way, many from the top down. I am half way through the tweed jacket and am love love loving the pattern. If you are wondering whether this book should be in your collection, bottom line: yes!

As a longtime Glampyre fan, I had high expectations for this book -- and it met them all! There are beautiful, practical knits that would flatter a wide range of shapes and sizes, knit in lovely (but not obscure, as the last review said) yarns and... I have to say it, the photos are amazing. I actually enjoyed curling up with this book just to look at the photos alone! br / br /There are several patterns I'm already thinking of casting on (but deadlines = must wait, sigh!). FYI, the publisher appears to have put the same chart into the book twice but Japel already has errata posted to her site, so no worries. Love this book!

Glam Knits is full of slinky, retro-styled womens' designs. The patterns are mainly cardigans (yay!) and tunic tops/dresses, with a couple of accessories to round out the collection. About half are seamless top-down raglans with the remainder being set-in sleeve and kimono styles. Sizes range from 32" to 58". Standout designs include the very fitted bell-sleeved cardigan worked in sportweight cashmere, a tweed cardigan with great shaping and an exaggerated collar, and the blue hooded coat with puffed sleeves which delight me on an Anne-of-Green-Gables level. br / br /The yarns used are definitely luxe, but thankfully not obscure. Lots of recognizable names that you'll have no trouble locating. br / br /All in all, a good book with styles you won't see repeated in every other knitting publication. br /
