| Customer Reviews: Beautiful Guitar July 21, 2009 bj735 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a novice guitar player, and I love this guitar. First of all, it's a gorgeous instrument. I've never liked the plain average looking light wood colored guitars. This one is a rich chocolaty brown with very pronounced wood grain.
It has an on board tuner, which took some getting used to, but it works very well. The instructions on how to use the tuner were very vague and not much help. I had to just play with it til I figured it out. One downside to the tuner is that the guitar has to be close enough to tune for it to be of any help. I had to go online and find a site that would give me the tone I needed so I could get it close enough by ear so that the tuner could recognize which string I was working on. Also, it seems like this tuner can handle alternate tunings, but I can't really comment on that since I don't know much about it.
It also has adjustments for the electronics. I haven't plugged it in yet, so I can't speak to how well that stuff works.
The guitar has a nice sound to it. You can't really tell from the pictures, but mine came with the strap buttons attached to the guitar. Though it's hard to actually get the strap on them. I guess because everything is still so new.
The only complaints I have are that the box it came in was kind of beat up. But even if it hadn't been, it's just a flimsy cardboard box with some very thin plastic cushioning stuff.
Also, there is a blemish on the top of the head stock. It looks like it was made while the finish was still wet.
I bought this guitar from Amazon just about a month ago, for considerably more than what the price is today. I would have given it a good recommendation at the higher price I paid for it. So this is a bargain. Also, if you like this guitar, don't wait long. When I was looking at the Alvarez website, I was reading about another model that "will replace" this one, so it may be discontinued. It was discontinued at musician's friend and zzounds.
