Tyrone Town Council approved a new employee health insurance package at a called Wednesday night. Called into question over premium costs during recent budget talks, the new Aetna policy with better overall coverage significantly decreases the cost to taxpayers.

The House Small Business Committee introduced a bill Wednesday that would help small businesses provide their employees health insurance by allowing the companies to form health insurance purchasing cooperatives and by offering them a refundable tax credit of 65% of the cost of the insurance, the Wichita Eagle reports.

HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt on Monday said CMS will divide $49 million in grants among 31 states with high-risk health insurance pools as part of the Bush administration's plan for expanding access to care, the Salt Lake Tribune reports (Rosetta, Salt Lake Tribune, 7/23).
